It takes 5 minutes or less to introduce something new. This comes with the understanding that you are not expecting mastery the first time a skill is introduced. Each day, carve in time to revisit a previous taught skill. When it came time to introduce numbers to my daughter, I made sure to make that a part of our daily conversation, by asking questions in the car, at the store, or at the playground.
